Whats in a name

The lovely Dawn have a post on her blog about how we got the name for our blog so I thought I would let you all know how Highland hen came about.
First My Dh has called me chook for many years .Some of you know I was adopted and when I found my birth family it turns out they are from Scotland hence the highland part and to top it of my  birth family name would have been Cockrill so the hen part came from that .So that is how I became Highland hen The pic is a beautiful hen ScottishNanna dressed for me.

Here are a few things that I should be working on  It is a slow process but I will get there in the end.

 And here is what I made for lunch the other day YUMO scone dough pizza base with boconchini cheese and basil so easy and sooo good Thanks Dee for letting me in on this .

my new toy

I am so lucky on the weekend my baby Brother was at a sale and he rang and asked me if I was intersted in a sewing machine
I ummed and arred and told him the budget was not interested in a sewing machine sooo he got it for me anyway and just look at her
now to find out can I quilt on this little lady if anyone knows anything about her I would be glad to know .She is in a singer table but I cant find a name on her and the numbers dont bring any info from the net !!

It is school holidays here and the kids are enjoying just hanging around playing games and chatting to friends.
I hope to get some sewing done and plan to make a start on MY SSCS for 2011 so excited about this.

Yay I have a finnish it has taken a long time

TAA DAA

Well I finaly have my Kitchen back yay.

 I love how it looks and I love my new oven and cook top.

I still am waiting for a while to hang any thing on the walls I want to be sure the paint has time to set realy well .

I have been doing some sewing and will have a finish to show soon as well as a new project .hope you are all doing something you love today

what has been going on

Well I have been without A working kitchen

but today the grout is being put in the tiles and next week or the week after the walls will get new paint so I will share pics then but I must say I am loving the new kitchen

this is how it looked as we were pulling the old one out

I have been getting use to our landlord  and various tradies being in the house a lot the past couple of weeks  It will be nice to just have the house to ourselves again .I have also been sick with the flu not much fun I can tell you

A little sewing has been done and I will get some pics and show you soon

A little Quilt

 well I am finally back blogging  now I hope blogger is playing nice today
I have been doing a little sewing a little study  trying to organise my kitchen because the landlord is putting in a new one so I am sorting through my stuff  hate the process but will love the new kitchen.
Today is cold and overcast so I decided to do a little sewing I have added the binding to the little quilt I am making for a special little girl

I still need to hand stitch the binding down but that will be a good job for later tonight I think .I hope you are all doing something you love today
