Currans Quilt

Currans Quilt
my Best friend Bec has had a quilt made for her son for I will not say how long LOL
and this year she wanted to have it quilted for him for Christmas. Now I am only learning to use my short arm machine but Bec was happy for me to do the Quilting in fact she told me I HAD to do it Just a LITTLE PUSH FROM A FRIEND hehe.
So yesterday I loaded and quilted Currans Quilt I so hope she is happy with it
now it is not perfect but it is done

swap gift

Today I got some fantastic mail my swap gift all the way from Helena in Sweden

I have opened my ornament and will put the cute red balls on the tree when the kids get home from school

my other gift is under the tree waiting for Christmas

Quilting

Hi well as some of you know last year I got myself a short arm quilting Machine what you don't know is how much trouble I have had with it

The person I got it from while lovely has not been any help
I have had broken belts that I had a very hard time getting skipt stitches and no stitches .The people who make this machine are no longer in business so I have not been able to get any help.
But yesterday I had a win
played and fiddled and yes I did my first Panto WOO HOO
I am so glad I did not give up
My Machine Is A Design A Quilt brand so if any one out there has any info on them I would love to hear from you.

my machine cover

I decided to take up the challenge over at Jennies Blog http://elefantz.blogspot.com/2009/08/little-green-visitor-sneak-peek-and.html
to make a sewing machine cover you need to make a cover in august to be in the draw for a prize:}
so today I had some time and had a play around with some chenille and a vintage doily
I have added a pocket to the front and one on the side to keep the foot and book in
I think I need to play around with the fit a bit more But I am happy with how it looks

crochet update

Hi just doing a little update on how I am going with my blanket it is growing slowly but I am happy with it so far

Not a lot of sewing has been going on at my house lately but I do hope to change that soon Jenny

I have seen some beautiful yarn goodies on some blogs and because I have wanted to learn to crochet for a long time I decided to give it a go and here is the start of my big blanket. I am going to just do it in different coloured stripes and see how it goes what do you think ??

new quilt

here is my new quilt
I was lucky to get a beautiful charm pack from Fiona in the recent swap I was in
this is what I am doing with it I had some blue linen [it is not sooooo blue in real life]that I got from a thrift store I think I payed 5o cents for it I wanted something to put on the back of the lounge so I out this together
I am happy with it now I just need to get some backing fabric and quilt it

I have not been doing much in the sewing room lately but hope to get back into it soon

lucky mumma

I would have to be the luckiest mummy in the world look at the beautiful wall hanging my eldest DD Amanda made for me
for my birthday back in may it came in the mail last week I love it soooo very much I also have a table runner and a cushion she made me out of the same fabric

I just need to get a nice hanger to hang it up at the moment I am using a cat toy LOL
I will be back soon with some pics of a new project I am working on

Hanky quilt

I have a girlfriend that is going through a tough patch at the moment so I decided to make here a little quilt
about a year ago she gave me her mums sewing things because her mum could not sew any more and my friend is not crafty when I was going through the sewing boxes I came across some hankies all neatly washed and Ironed at the time I thought I would like to do something with them but put them back in the box and left them to age .

well now I have done something with them and I hope my friend is happy with her little quilt it smells of her mums perfume so I hope it will be a comfort when she is in need of a hug hugs Beth

thrift finds

I just had to show you the good finds I had today
I hope to finish the little stitchery and add it to some Christmas decorations
the little book will be for sewing ideas I hop we to hang the wall hanging in the laundry and the vintage sheet is going into me growing stash I hope to get enough to make a summer quilt from them and the little cards are just because I like them.
I will be going now I am working on a gift for a friend I will show pics when I am finished

Spoilt

today and I must say I have been totally spoilt I love everything my bag is just beautiful as is the needle book .

I will put them both to good use and Fiona also sent me some goodies some buttons a tape measure , thread, chocolate and a charm pack of yummy fabric

Well I have been playing today
I received some charm squares in a giveaway before Christmas and I have been thinking about what to make with them

then I was looking around some beautiful blogs and got an Idea soooooo I had a play I will show a full pic when I get the binding sewn down but I just want to say it is amazing what you can do with about 15 charm squares some fabric and a flannel baby wrap

paper bag swap

Ok first I would like to say thanks for the birthday wishes
I had a lovely day and Mum [nanna Mary] and Dad poppy Pete came up to see me it was a lovely surprise
now for the swap
here are the things i am sending
I have not added the chocolate to the pic but it is in the parcel oh I cant wait to see what my partner makes with these ok I will go for now hugs Beth

As I sit here and type this dont forget the chocolate is in the dryer getting all crinkly .
I am so glad to have this done and yes I did quilt it on the big machine
I am not 100% happy with my quilting but for only my 2nd quilt it is ok.
I love this quilt and I think it will be my snuggle quilt for the lounge
LOL I did a pieced binding useing left over scraps from the quilt and I think it looks good

it has been a cool day and it loks like we are in for some rain tonight. I hope it holds off untill later

our local show is on so we will go for a drive tonight and see if the fireworks are on

we do this every year

oh dear

oh dear I was trying to change my template background and I have lost all my favourites
[shhhh I had help from DH] and my counter my clock oh dear a lot of stuff
now I have to do some reading and try and work out how to fix this

a nice afternoon

I had a lovely afternoon yesterday

Maree came to visit and she gave me the beautiful doorstop I won on her blog I just love it

we had a really nice time chatting and we walked down town and Maree did a Little shopping I love the fabric Maree

then we had coffee

and walked home.

Maree had a fall on a tree root on the footpath on the way home

she is a bit stiff sore now but

I do hope she gets better quickly

thank you for the visit Maree I cant wait to see you again .

my treasures

today hubby and Rachel and I went garage saleing we found some nice sales but some of the prices were a tad high

but the last sale we went to I got

this beautiful little frame and stitchery for $2

and the 2 blue pieces of fabric for $1.50 each

they are about 1 metre each

so I am happy

Quilt top done

Ok so here it is
I am happy with it but I still am not sure about the dark pink
I will be binding it in the dark pink as well so maybe that will help ????
I would love some feedback on this I seem to struggle picking fabrics to go together this top is big enough to sit nicely on my Queen bed and
it was really fast to do .
I have spent the day doing housework so I can play in the craft room tomorrow
I would like to make a doll and I want to try painting her feet so I hope it is a nice day
