singer Machine case

A couple of years ago one of my best friends and her hubby bought a small farm . When they moved in they found an old singer machine case in one of the sheds .It did not have a machine with it but the draws had a lot of old lace buttons and other things in them. My friend is not into sewing like I am so I was offered the case of course I jumped at the chance as I had been wanting one for a one time .It has taken My Dear Hubby just over a year to do his magic and do it up for me .I did not get any before pics but here it is now It was very neglected and unloved before but now it looks beautiful

I have sat it in my front room until I can decide where it will live

Well Christmas has been and gone for another year  I hope you all had a fantastic day

Hi I have been playing with some air dry clay and decided to try and make myself some Christmas decorations here is what I have done  I can think of lots  of ideas for this stuff it is such fun to play with

very busy time

Hi All I am finaly back with a post .
Lots of things have been going on around here so I will just list some to give you an Idea of why I have not been blogging ok here we go
DD Amanda and Her BF Luke got engaged YAY
Been Sick myself, kids and hubby all at different times
my youngest brother moved to town with his girls [he is a single dad 4 girls ]
My a mum Joan  came to stay  [some of you know I am adopted this is the mum I grew up with]
Lots of end of year school stuff for the kids and tafe stuff for myself
sewing for the SSCS I cant show pics yet its a secret shhh
supporting hubby with end of year things for the club he is in .
 I have had a go at making some christmas decorations and will get some pics to share later
so there you go I have been busy
the pic above is a garage sale find for $2 I am collecting  framed flowers tappestry I have 3 now
I will hope to blog more now and  may even have some time to do some sewing

Whats in a name

The lovely Dawn have a post on her blog about how we got the name for our blog so I thought I would let you all know how Highland hen came about.
First My Dh has called me chook for many years .Some of you know I was adopted and when I found my birth family it turns out they are from Scotland hence the highland part and to top it of my  birth family name would have been Cockrill so the hen part came from that .So that is how I became Highland hen The pic is a beautiful hen ScottishNanna dressed for me.

Here are a few things that I should be working on  It is a slow process but I will get there in the end.

 And here is what I made for lunch the other day YUMO scone dough pizza base with boconchini cheese and basil so easy and sooo good Thanks Dee for letting me in on this .

my new toy

I am so lucky on the weekend my baby Brother was at a sale and he rang and asked me if I was intersted in a sewing machine
I ummed and arred and told him the budget was not interested in a sewing machine sooo he got it for me anyway and just look at her
now to find out can I quilt on this little lady if anyone knows anything about her I would be glad to know .She is in a singer table but I cant find a name on her and the numbers dont bring any info from the net !!

It is school holidays here and the kids are enjoying just hanging around playing games and chatting to friends.
I hope to get some sewing done and plan to make a start on MY SSCS for 2011 so excited about this.

TAA DAA

Well I finaly have my Kitchen back yay.

 I love how it looks and I love my new oven and cook top.

I still am waiting for a while to hang any thing on the walls I want to be sure the paint has time to set realy well .

I have been doing some sewing and will have a finish to show soon as well as a new project .hope you are all doing something you love today

what has been going on

Well I have been without A working kitchen

but today the grout is being put in the tiles and next week or the week after the walls will get new paint so I will share pics then but I must say I am loving the new kitchen

this is how it looked as we were pulling the old one out

I have been getting use to our landlord  and various tradies being in the house a lot the past couple of weeks  It will be nice to just have the house to ourselves again .I have also been sick with the flu not much fun I can tell you

A little sewing has been done and I will get some pics and show you soon

A little Quilt

 well I am finally back blogging  now I hope blogger is playing nice today
I have been doing a little sewing a little study  trying to organise my kitchen because the landlord is putting in a new one so I am sorting through my stuff  hate the process but will love the new kitchen.
Today is cold and overcast so I decided to do a little sewing I have added the binding to the little quilt I am making for a special little girl

I still need to hand stitch the binding down but that will be a good job for later tonight I think .I hope you are all doing something you love today

A little sewing

Well It has been a while since I have been on here but I have been busy studying

but yesterday I decided I needed to do some craft so I pulled out some of my fabric and had a play .I am so loving how this is coming together I will show you some more pics when it is done . I was also lucky enough to have 2 things in mags this month the Bunnies I made for Rachel and Lily were in Homespun and an old antique Hexagon quilt I have is in Leanne Beasleys Vignette so I am very excited.

I am going to my craft group tonight so I hope to get some sewing done there

beach

I love the beach and have wanted to go since before Christmas but time and the weather had other ideas but on Sunday we had some time and went for a drive to a beach about 40 min form home .It was a hot sunny day and the tide was out but we had a good long walk in the sand looking at the shells and driftwood that have been washed up . I took some pic of the soldier crabs but they did not turn out very well so I will try again next time we go solder crabs are soo cute here is one pic that I love from the ones I took

I am so lucky to have a best buddy that has a farm and sends me wonderful gifts just look at this braid and yes she made the hanging that is under it as a gift for me around 10 years ago Bec has a blog living simply it is in my side bar if you would like to go over and say hi it is very hot here today hope you are all doing something you love today

Hi here is a little something I have been working on I found this at the thrift shop and decide it needed to be white well what do you think

I am very happy with how it looks now I think I will be painting some other things white now .

I have been doing a bit of thinking and have decided not to keep doing the block swap I have been in .I have had a fab time in the swap and now have some beautiful blocks for a shabby quilt but I have just found that I am getting a bit behind on the things I need to do.also this year I am doing a tafe course more on that later ok had better go now and find something for dinner hugs Beth

little birds

I have had some friends staying with me because they could not get home to Emerald because of the flooding .
Sam wanted to make some birds so we raided my stash and made these 2 little birds I think they turned out very cite
Sam has not done a lot of sewing but she did a fantastic job and I think she is a quilter in the making

Maryborough is flooding this is a pic of a boat in the river under where it is are tables and a deck that you can stand on to view the river ummm but not now

here is the boat club a bit wet our queens park looks like a lake our house is ok but if this gets to high some might get wet there is just so much water around the state at the moment
